Image: Hamish Mill (DAC '88) – 2019 Domain Golden Gavel Champion. Hamish, who is a Property Consultant & Auctioneer at Harcourts Williams, competed against the very best in the business to take out the title. The Domain Golden Gavel recognises excellence for auctioneers and appraisers.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at St Peter's College. I commenced school in grade 5 (1976) living in Pembroke Street, College Park opposite the Lloyd Oval. I had an older and younger brother and we would go over the ladder across the Lloyd Oval to school. It was a very happy childhood! We were always kicking the football and playing sport over the road on the Oval. This last week I have just been to Melbourne for a real estate conference and I had dinner with Cameron Griffiths, who was my cricket billet from Melbourne Grammar in Grade 7! Where have those 40 years gone? It seems like yesterday.

I have wonderful memories of my time at school! The values we learnt at school were people first, doing the right thing, being courageous and fun & laughter. I feel so fortunate to have been educated at St Peter's College where I met so many lifelong friends with whom I still catch up with on a weekly basis.

After leaving school, I attended Longreach Pastoral College in Queensland and got a certificate in Animal Production. I then travelled overseas with a school friend for 18 months, having a snow season in Whistler BC Canada, touring North America, Europe & Asia. On my return, I worked for my Father’s real estate company Ian Mill Pty Ltd (1995) in Melbourne Street, North Adelaide. In 2006, Ian Mill retired and I went to work as a residential real estate agent and auctioneer for Harcourts. I am still in the same job and love the challenge that it brings each and every day!

It was a great pleasure to win the 2019 Domain Golden Gavel recently. It is a great honour to win this prestigious award!

In my spare time I enjoy keeping fit! Lots of running, swimming, bike riding, gym and so on. I enjoy competing in triathlons.
