The 2018/19 Summer season has proven to be one of the best with many highlights coming from the team based competitions. With a record number of registered athletes, the club achieved a total of 5 Premierships by taking 1st place in the U/14, U/16, U/18 and Open Men’s competitions and in the U/18 Women’s competition. The club is also champions of the 2019 Event Cup Finals Competition by winning 5 out of the 12 cups. A huge haul of medals were earned at the State Relay Championships with top 3 placings coming from all age groups and event disciplines.

Many club members, family and friends celebrated this great team success at the club’s annual End of Season Quiz Night. Saints Club athletes have also excelled individually with many highlight performances throughout the regular season and at the State Championships. Most notably was St Peter’s College student Aidan Murphy’s U/16 State Record breaking performance of 21.80s in the 200m, beating the previous record by 0.17s held by Saints Athletics Club athlete Mark Helier. Saints was also well represented at the Open Decathlon and U/20 Decathlon events, making up over half of the competitors. Dean Pastrello and Lane Whittaker took our 1st and 2nd place respectively in Open event. Many of the club’s athletes will be representing the State by attending the star event on Australian Athletics calendar, the Australian Track & Field Championships in Sydney, to round out the Summer season. The club will then turn its focus to the revamped Winter season and is looking forward to being involved in the festivities at the St Peter’s College Community Day.
