Old scholars and their guests are invited to attend the May Business Lunch with guest speaker Phil Davis (YNG 2008).
Phil Davis is a retired Australian Rules footballer known for his leadership in the AFL. He began with the Adelaide Crows before becoming a cornerstone player for the Greater Western Sydney Giants. Despite injury setbacks early in his career, Davis was able to showcase his ability and resilience, earning a Rising Star nomination in 2010 & the Crows Emerging Talent award. At the end of 2011, he joined the Giants, serving as inaugural Co-Captain from 2012 to 2019. Despite many injuries, notably a 2014 kidney injury, he earned admiration for his on-field performance and media presence. Off the field, Phil pursued academic endeavours which included completing a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance & Accounting as well as completing an MBA. Further to this he served as a board member and Vice-President of the AFL Players Association. His retirement in August 2023 marked the end of a distinguished career defined by leadership, resilience, and contributions to the sport as a whole. Phil has also built a reputation as one of the most impressive media talents in the game.
